Some news on AI. Last time Mythos was banned from public release and has been categorized by the US as a weapon effectively putting it under US government control and regulations after it has demonstrated offensive cybersecurity capabilities under a controlled environment. Then came the unprecedented escape of ChatGPT from a containment without internet connection and used newly discovered zero-days on the spot to carry out a vector attack against HuggingFace searching for datasets that it used to cheat to manipulate its performance scores in the test and was later caught by the use of China’s AI. A related incident followed where ChatGPT was caught leaving notes to its future versions on how to escape containment. Then we been hearing about the small AI model that is shipped with the Chrome browser without consumer’s consent. Finally, just now I saw a fresh news about an AI worm found from one of Microsoft’s products.
The energy sector is also being caught up in the continuing evolution of the AI industry and must solve the energy scale needed to power large AI data centers. The amount of energy to power these infrastructures is far too great than the current industry is able to provide.
