Some analysis of the situation yesterday regarding the market conditions and industry signaling in line with the cybersec product back in August and although I was kinda surprised as to the silence of the industry regarding the threat I know there is something happening because clearly such a threat can’t be downplayed.
I initially thought that the tech giants will leave it to other vendors to solve the problem but I was surprised that there seem to be an understanding between these big companies on which company is going to solve what. There is collaboration and a well thought agreement on what layer and what scope their solution is going to cover. A good signalling that these tech giants are not somehow being greedy on taking the market all to themselves but actually solving the problem without generating a direct revenue from it!
First, the design decision on the product was very accurate hence the product evaded the tragedy of approaching the problem and then getting 100% obsolete later on because one of the tech giants have released a platform version backtracking up to one of their old versions with the solution integrated.
Second, the orchestrated industry approach to the problem of providing a solution to different layers and scopes covering almost the entirety of modern enterprise systems both the proprietary and open source infrastructures has also made clear the boundary as to which niche market is going to be available for the cybersec product. The road is being cleared.
Lastly due to the recent industry direction, potential competitors are now being filtered out because the wider market attraction to deploy such a solution is now owned by the network of tech giants. Competition won’t disappear but at least I am sure it has removed a lot of the vying competitors for the market.
On the government politics side regarding the impeachment proceedings for the VP in PH, there has been a discussion about the impeachment votes because a lot of the opposition is now out of work in the senate due to a variety of reasons which is obviously political. Logically and within a useful context, I agree with the three former supreme court justices that the rule on the two thirds vote to impeach the VP does not solely rest on the hard number 16. Such issue also highlights another aspect to support constitutional change in the future to remove such vague provisions.
Back in the Hague, the former president Duterte shows up at the ICC in public for the first time in almost a year but now with a frail look. The former president Duterte who is accused of committing crimes against humanity due to his brutal war on drugs that instead of arresting illegal drug users and illegal drug pushers, most were killed on the spot. That is not justice. Justice means bring the offender to the courts in front of the judges and the judges decides the fate of the offender based on evidences. Here in the Philippines, the philosophy regarding law and justice is that an accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty, which is different from other states including Singapore where there are circumstance where the accused has the burden of proof instead. The war on drugs took that away from the Filipino people and statistically, there are innocents who were killed.
Indeed, the time of Duterte as president seemingly reduced the crimes around the country but the reality is different. In my experience of the situation, the social projection of these people who were a considered a threat to society such as criminals and would be criminals were changed instead. That means the criminals still exist but their projection to the society from previously harmful looking persons to innocent and socially attractive personalities does not remove their tendency to commit crimes. Instead, more bold cases of harmless people have committed crimes after the Duterte presidency. The bad elements in the society has to survive the purge and because the harmless looking were favored during the time of Durtete, the criminals then learned how to look harmless and meld to the society better. Point is that the bad elements in the society never went away and instead learned how to survive by changing how the society perceives them, now they are harmless looking so they do their criminal activities with higher survivability rate during the Duterte time and that carries over to this date. Hence most criminal offenders don’t look like the old fearless tough guy from many years back. Illegal drugs is still here, rape is still here, murder is still here, and a lot more.
There was this new topic being the center of the netizen’s attention and is about a Filipina athlete turned porn star. I understand that most people specially from the traditional religious backgrounds will criticize the person but I think we can all give our criticism about the moral issues in this context but then why do we need to sensationalize the life of that person? There is no need to brandish to the world the true identity of the porn actress. I see such thing as an invasion of privacy, the identity was revealed which should have been protected. Looks like a legal action will come in the future in favor of this Filipina athlete turned porn star. The main problem with most Filipinos, they like to feast on someone else’s life and be a copycat judge, which is a shame actually.
