Started on the MIT-OCW course on introduction to solid state chemistry and it turns out half of it is general chemistry and the remaining half is on chemistry of solids which are relevant to condensed matter physics, material science and engineering, including electrical engineering and quantum engineering.
Not sure if the status quo on the uniqueness of the course still holds but in the introduction lecture video, the professor said that there is no other place that one can get this kind or course and only in MIT. I think it maybe attributed to the accessibility of a specialized body of knowledge in an introductory chemistry course giving the opportunity to learn the general chemistry foundationa and specialize in solid state chemistry at the same time in the level that is enough for engineers to start inventing devices.
