Although I took my chemistry for engineers course from a local BSEE back in 2024, taking chemistry again these days from MIT-OCW in the form of Introduction to Solid State Chemistry taught me how to identifty substances using the density property. Back in the BSEE progrma we been tackling density in chemistry for engineers course and in thermodynamics course in many different occasions but the trivial yet important application of identifying substances using density was a miss.
On the other hand, the textbook used in the Solid State Chemistry course in MIT-OCW is from Saylor.org, an institution that was originally made for MOOCs but maybe the other academic institution saw Saylor.org as a threat to their business hence worked against it. Their MOOC for Pure Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering was very good.
There are many deadlinks in the text though not a blocker like the link for the atomic structure which can still be navigated to using the table of contents, and the skill building exercise on estimation.
